Kyler played great. The defense was great. We had 231 yards rushing. Things change.

I don't have an answer for the defense. I thought they would be much better. If an NFL QB has a great running game and defense, they don't have to do it all themselves. Now we have no running games (injuries?), porous defense, and no real starting QB. We have had a plethora of injuries, too. Also, this is the first game that seemed like the players weren't all in.

I'd say the biggest indictment of Kyler the last 3 years is his inability to get the ball to Michael Wilson.

I'll admit I was wrong about Wilson. I figured if he could get the ball to Trey then he would get the ball to Wilson if he was good enough. Yes I knew a more rhythmic passer would get more out of Wilson, but I didnt expect this much.

MHJ its tough to say whats holding him back. Still young.

However, yea I think Wilson's explosion is going to make some teams hesitant about Kyler truly struggling with a particular style of wr.

He is better than Anthony Richardson and Indy is a team that can win and now need a QB next year. He will have nearly 12 dome games with Indy. Could be a good fit for him as a stop gap.

I wouldnt be shocked if they ran it back with Minshew when he's available. Not everything but he did make a Pro Bowl with the Colts and won 9 games.

There is going to have to be a TON of humility and awareness from Kyler this offseason. He's going to have sell himself on why a team should restructure their offense around him. If he's aloof he'll be heading towards Jets territory and too famous for a backup situation in a couple years.

I dunno. I’m guessing Shanahan could convince himself the sample size of 1 doesn’t prove anything. Also, Lance played 8 total games with Shanahan; maybe he’s not off the idea of a more creative QB.

Still, I like the idea of him trying to rescue Zach Wilson, Malik Willis, or Will Levis so much more.

You get 1-4 years to show something before you're canned, and a lot of coaches are stuck with some bad bad options. Teams will even fire proven good coaches that lose their QB and inevitably start losing. Coaches without a franchise QB will grasp at straws in a game they can't win, and Kyler will be one of the straws taken.

The raiders probably take Mendoza and the Saints might want to stick with Shough another year, who knows with Cleaveland.

Jets, have #7 in what might end up being a 1 QB 1st round and their choices are Justin Fields and Tyrod Taylor. Aaron Glenn had one of the worst coaching starts ever for the Jets, if they dont show signs of life on offense he might be gone after year 2. Kyler is a viable candidate for them.

The Colts are going to miss the playoffs and Daniel Jones probably wont be ready for the 2026 season. If they are forced to choose between Anthony Richardson or Riley Leonard they might just take Kyler. Honestly I think they'd be happy with Jacoby if we were willing to give him up.

Vikings: Absolutely need to bring in competition for JJ McCarthy, they won a game against the league 32nd defense but were hiding #9 the entire game.

Pittsburgh: Tomlin isn't getting fired this year, but 2026 is the last year in his contract. There arent any rookies that look like viable year 1 starters where the Steelers are picking. Even if they draft someone, they need a vet.

So what happened? Especially to the defense.

They have a really young CB room that also isn't very talented, a bad ILB core, limited rush options, and a lot of mixing and mashing to players.

ILBs are like RBs for the defense. What they do is pretty replaceable, but also kinda like a glue. When you play shell coverage it leaves space underneath. You are protecting against deep plays but the depth of the Ss creates holes. This requires CBs to play with the correct technique to be able to carry and then drop receivers at the correct times. Same goes for ILBs. They have to understand what route combinations to expect and then make sure they are getting the proper timing and depth to shut down those passing lanes. Think about Landman's int of Brissett. I think it as Wilson who was WIDE open but Landman dropped right into the throwing lane and was able to make a play. The Cardinals aren't getting any of that from their CBs and ILBs.

Add in that the ILBs are also terrible (or at best inconsistent) with their run fits and now you have run plays which should be stopped in the hole going to 3-5 yards. There just isn't any connectivity.

Also, losing Nolen means you don't really have another interior pass rusher other than CC. Browning has been bad as well which hurts because then you play more Collins. Similarly, Burch seems a bit lost off ball as a rusher which means he is a younger version of Collins outside.
