I still remember that Whiz cut Matt Leinart a week before the start of the season for Derek Anderson after starting Matty the whole preseason and through camp.

Honestly if you zoom out this comes down to a leadership issue. As a leader you are always responsible for culture, whether it’s good or bad. And once you become aware of an issue under your leadership, it’s no longer “their” fault, it’s “your” fault if the behaviors and results continue.

It’s not always easy being the boss because you have to hold people that you care about accountable, but this is also why you make the big bucks. It comes with the job. If JG is blindly loyal to his friends, and allows the emotions of those friendships to prevent him from doing what’s best for the organization, it’s just poor leadership. And ultimately it will catch up with him.
