‘The Boys’ Prequel ‘Vought Rising’ Casts ‘Blue Bloods’ Alum Will Hochman

“Vought Rising,” Amazon’s upcoming prequel to “The Boys,” has added Will Hochman to its cast, Variety has learned exclusively.

Hochman joins previously announced leads Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash in the series, which was ordered at Prime Video in July 2024. Variety also reported that Mason Dye, who will appear in “The Boys” Season 5 as Bombsight, could also potentially appear in “Vought Rising.”

“Vought Rising” has been described as a “twisted murder mystery” that will take place in the 1950s and will see Ackles once again play Soldier Boy while Cash will again play Stormfront, a.k.a. Clara Vought. The show is expected to begin production later this year.

I love The Boys but they've over saturated the market. It was/is a clever parody of the superhero genre adapted at the perfect time to resonate with a fatigued audience. They could cash in by pumping more into production of the main series and giving us more than 8 episodes every other year. 32 episodes in 6 years is crazy. There's been almost as many spinoff series as completed seasons. We have 4 announced spinoffs, Diabolical, Gen V, Mexico, and this.

agree,,,seems to be the trend these days. Nobody puts the work into finishing what they started...they just keep spreading like a fungus.

Amazon seems to have hitched their wagon to Jensen Ackles for the near future...
He did okay in the Boys... but as much as I was looking forward to Run Down...the first few episodes were lacking....and a big part of it was Jensen Ackles just playing a very flat Dean Winchester playing a cop...kept waiting to hear him introduce himself as Sargeant Robbert Plant or something.
he seemed to start easing away from that tone about 4 episodes in or so... but if my boy is going to be a headliner, the front man for a show, carry it...he needs to put more effort into playing the character he was cast as.
... but you watch..its only a matter of time before Prime has us watching a show with Jensen Ackles and Alan Richson

I got the gist of where Vought came from via the other shows. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see more of Jensen Ackles solider boy but not sure I care about the rest of the premise. I will give it a shot but if this idea was ditched I don't think I would miss anything.
