It's kind of hard to blame him in a way.
Afterall he is now getting $35 million a year for the next 2 years and is now on the most popular team in the league. He is somehow failing upward.
Think Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees. Most popular doesn't equal most liked or supported.
From what I've seen and experienced the younger generation gravitates more towards individual players than teams in the NBA also.

You can be the team with the most fans - but also the team that has the most people that hate you.
Say there are 50 million NBA fans - The Lakers might have 10 million fans, but there are 20 million of the 40 million other NBA fans that hate them, but no other team has as many fans as them.

Yeah and it's the kind of hate that can drive viewership too. Fans love to watch the Cowboys or the Lakers hoping they'll get embarrassed but some teams you "hate" and just don't want anything to do with them.
I never understood this. I don't watch teams I hate unless it's against a team I really like and want to see them beat said team. I know some do but I never have unless it's this scenario. The playoffs are different.

Absolutely. But that was one of the luckiest championships ever.
The other 16 were lucky too? C’mon. Everyone played the same schedule and under the same circumstances. At the end of the season, Lakers were on top. They were as lucky as OKC was this season.

What? My comment was clearly about one specific championship. IMO more luck was required to put the Lakers on top that season than for most champions. And there isn't a fan base in the league that wouldn't have been thrilled to luck their way into that title.

If we are talking about Gambo's sources, he says Chris Paul's preference is to return to Phoenix, but it is reportedly unlikely to happen.
Although, this could possibly be a spinoff of the Durant trade.

The rules were different. The Suns went undefeated in the bubble and were still eliminated. That happened in no other basketball playoff ever. Fake ship.
