I think Kyler can follow the team to 11 regular season wins in 2025 based on a soft schedule. Of course, if he wins nine games and misses the playoffs, I'm certain you'll be here to remind us to keep an open mind about Kyler Murray as a starting quarterback in 2026.

Sam Darnold another example of organizational QB futility it may seem.

I think the Jets are slightly below us on the scale or organizational futility. Did you see the big, recent NYT write-up on them? (someone showed me how to get behind their paywall, but I forgot. I'd love to read the whole thing)

Wow. That would be WILD. He's going back to Dallas next season; can't get rid of him before then! That's how he'd earn back all the goodwill he's squandered.

If it makes you feel any better Lamar would’ve likely struggled in year 1 as he did with Baltimore and Keim would’ve picked Kyler anyways. And Lamar would’ve been traded or Keim maybe tried to convert him to a TE or something.

Lamar was AWESOME his rookie season. He went 6-1 after Joe Flacco lead them to a desultory 4-5 record in the first half of the season. Really struggled in the playoffs, fumbling three times.

Dude, he walked into the best imaginable situation at every stop in his career before arriving here. When he encountered minor adversity at A&M he immediately transferred.

Anyone who knows anything about college football knows why Kyler got out of A&M. The “minor adversity” there was his head coach being a full blown alcoholic. Getting away from Sumlin was the smartest decision of Kyler’s life.

That's exactly what I and most of the free world are saying. That pass was not accurately thrown. I'll bet the K1 would tell you it could have been better located. And a pass over the middle on a crossing pattern is not remotely close to a pass in the red zone where the field is condensed.

I don't read everything but I would say half of the free world is saying how does a ball hit the TE in his helmet and how was that pick not overturned when they reviewed it. Because that's what I'm seeing online. Half are saying needs to lead him more and the other half are saying the problem is he hadn't turned to look, because of the contact in the endzone.

The only thing I can say there is he could have waited a split second longer but again we've spent the last several years hearing Kyler can't throw guys open, he won't throw the ball if the guys not open. He threw that ball as the guy was still getting free from the contact in the endzone, it hit the guy right in his helmet directly above his hands in a straight line. and that's still a bad throw apparently?

It's an absolute fluke play, sure if it's lower and outside when Trey doesn't see it, the ball probably hits the ground. And now we'd have a 50 page thread about how Kyler has him wide open for the game winner and throws it into the ground

Fair enough. I was saying the latter, what I was trying to say is that the path has been smoothed for Kyler Murray's success from Pop Warner football forward and there has been no one in a position of authority over him who hasn't believed in him up to this very moment.

They also lied to him during his recruitment. They told him they had no issues with him playing baseball and were fully behind it. His dad was a huge issue when he was younger. People really ought to read up on Kevin Murray, a BIG reason there was so much skepticism on Kyler in college was because of his dad. His dad flaked on EVERY situation he was in his entire career. Kept insisting he was committed to the situation he was in, and then would bolt. I'm committed to football, then but I'm going to play baseball etc. So when the dad appeared to control his recruitment and then his transfer it was a huge red flag for Kyler

Keim or otherwise, Kyler's work ethic has been questioned by many. He obviously takes care of his body, but not the intangibles. As Colin said, he's not gonna age well and would need a Randall Cunningham-type retooling to be productive, and Kyler simply doesnt have the function to be a QB who beats teams with superior intellect rather than athleticism.

Thought exercise: In 2019, would it have been better to ride with Josh Rosen one more season and to draft Nick Bosa or trade back? If Rosen doesnt pan out, you abandon ship in 2020 and are likely to be in position to draft Herbert, Burrow, Tua, etc. and still have an elite pass rusher.

Is there a Qb coming out of college worthy and could he step in on day one like Daniels or Williams?

You being so ready to shovel earth onto our QB1s grave, even at this juncture, is just the slightest bit off-putting . Ever so slightly. Forgive me for saying so.

I'll concede Murray may not ever win a playoff game in his career. Once unthinkable, it's unfortunately quite possible now, six years into his career, and with his current inability to make plays at critical moments in meaningful games. Now it's maybe a coinflip.

I doubt he finds that acceptable though. Can he do anything about it? That remains to be seen.

I'm a UCLA basketball fan not so much football but it was well known UCLA recruited Kyler. They knew they had no chance getting him on football alone but because of baseball they thought they had a chance. His dad apparently led the program along for quite awhile all the while knowing full well they weren't going to UCLA.

The 2026 QB draft class looks pretty loaded. Manning, Leavitt (hometown), Allar, South Carolina QB, etc. short of getting a monster offer my guess is we ride it out for a year.

Even I, K1's most enthusiastic Superfan here at ASFN, would have a tough time endorsing Murray for 2026 if we failed to make the post season in 2025 (baring extraordinary extenuating 2025 circumstances of course).

I feel pretty confident we'll make the playoffs next year however.

Tua does not belong with Burrow or Herbert. We would be in the same position (arguably even worse) if Tua was our QB instead of Kyler.

I have more issues with his dad controlling QB stuff more than any power dynamics.

What are they actively working on to work around the height limitations. Still think he needs another voice. Just training like a normal 6'2" QB isnt working.
