For this exercise let’s say money isn’t a factor (we don’t know their market value yet). Strictly based on need going forward:

The truth is that’s a lot of pretty good, but no great, players. Ertz maybe being the exception. I feel like it’s:

1. Ertz
2. Chandler (but not for big $$$)
3. Everyone else

For anyone who does not have McCoy #1, did you see our team with Hundley and Streveler?
I think colt is great for a 1 or 2 game bandaid but kyler goes down for long it’s season over likely. So I can’t exalt colt to such large heights.

That is better than being a 1 or 2 game liability. I have seen us without Ertz and it was a pretty good team. I have seen us without Chandler and we are ok. I have seen us with little production form Kirk and we have been fine. No McCoy has meant no wins.

8. Alford
9. Jones
10. Green
You shouldn't especially since he is the one guy whose replacement we actually have on the roster.

Kirk will be at or near the top of the list for several reasons: versatility, speed, youth, back-up punt returner, availability, work ethic, in prime of career, yadda, yadda - not to mention the importance of receiver in Kingsbury offense.

Ok, I can't ignore this.

1 - He is not versatile. He has been a near zero when not playing in the slot.

2 - He is not particularly fast by NFL standards.

3 - We run 11 personnel a ton so 3 WRs is the default. I will take the 8 mil in cost savings and roll with Rondale.

1. Ertz (can make such a difference in the passing game and is a solid blocker, something this team hasn't had in years)
2. McCoy (backup of this quality is just too hard to find in the NFL)
3. Conner (as long as he makes it through the entire season without injury otherwise he drops on this list)
4. Kirk (just hope a contract year isn't influencing his play)
5. Williams (two solid TEs with blocking ability and can catch is valuable and can contribute so much to the run game. Look at TB and their TE depth)
6. Edmonds (this type of RB is pretty plentiful and can be had later in the draft)
7. Green (age)
8. Gardeck (high motor but can easily be replaced in the draft)
9. Jones (has disappeared way too often to offer a contract he will expect)
10. Alford (age)

True, but each of those players (a) gives more to us over the course of an entire season so you could say in the aggregate they likely win us more games; and (b) colt likely ain’t beating the buccaneers in the playoffs but all those others would aggregate together to heighten our chances to do so.

It seems your colt argument supports raising the floor on the team whereas my support for the other players raises the ceiling.

Kirk unlocks the offense in the slot.

I'm 50/50 on Rondale filling the role. On one hand we've been using him as suped up Tavon Austin. On the other hand the Chiefs did the same thing with Tyreke Hill his rookie year.

I talk about the differences in speed. And even though Moore is quicker, stronger and "faster". Kirk seems to have better downfield speed and more of a downfield threat. That seemed to be the consensus even during camp. However, Rondale has a chance to get better.

Great post OP.

1. Alford - the NFL is now a passing league. How can we let even just "good" CB talent go?

2. Ertz - a duel threat TE, so a necessity, especially with Maxx W's full recovery not guaranteed.

3. Jones - a true quarterback hunter. Desperately need those in this league. 30+ however.

4. Kirk - He gets separation from DBs. He's durable. He'll get behind the defense occasionally.

5. (tie) Conner and Chase. Our very own thunder and lightening. Want them both back please Keim!

7. McCoy - Murray is our meal ticket, but McCoy is valuable. Very valuable. Doesn't see as much PT as the above though.

8. Green - He's been steady and productive. No need to cast him aside. Could be replaced if necessary.

9. Williams - Hurts me to put the Maxxdozer at nine, but we've got Ertz. Hope we bring Williams back.

10. Gardeck. - Hope we bring the Barbarian back, but his production can be replaced.

I started writing a long post on this a couple of days ago but figured it might be a downer. It's going to be tough to stay good next year with the amount of players who are FA. Only 31 signed at the moment and $28m to fill the gaps.

These guys (McCoy aside) are just the starters. There's also Peters, Garcia, Daniels, Harris, Brewer, Andy Lee and Zeke Turner.

These are their market lower and upper market values as I see it.

Kirk $12-$14m
Ertz $5-$8m
McCoy $2-$4m
Conner $5-$7m
Edmonds $5-$7m
Gardeck $4-$6m
Williams $4-$6m
Alford $3-$6m
Jones $16-$22m
Green $9-$12m

That's a lot of money.

We can stretch the cap space. I reckon between Nuk, Hump, Budda we can free up another $15-$20m maybe but thats kicking it down the road. Can get $6m back from cutting Kennard. We could recoup $10m from cutting Pugh. $6m from cutting Hicks. $2.5m from cutting Justin Murray.

So we can definitely resign a bunch of guys but it's going to be a tough offseason for Keim and the cap manager.

CJ is the obvious odd man out. Just don;t see how we can afford that cap hit on a guy thats hot and cold.
