Props to Conner today. He saved us, along with a ton of gutsy performance on defense. On a sad note, Grandma had a fall, so I won't be certain I can post a ton for a bit... but what a signature win. Really happy about the team, and our unexpected depth!

Hope your Grandmother gets better. My mother fell and broke her femur last winter with the snow which filtered through Texas and lucky it was not her hip and now doing well
On a lighter note, maybe you should temper your football observations since you have enough crow on your plate to make even Edgar Allen Poe envious Solar lol

I did say in a much earlier thread that I thought Conner would be the most impactful FA signing.
But I also thought the cards would be about a 3-5 win team.

Fact is, Keim has pretty much hit on all his signings. I’m including Hudson as a signing too.

Prater has been a great signing too.
I keep waiting for him to be Rackers/Gonzalez/ any other Cardinals kicker but he’s been nails.

Murphy got better from year one to year two. This was a reasonable expectation.

I don't think I saw anyone think this.

Simmons would come if age

Simmons is literally playing about as well as he was at the end of last season, so it should be expected.

Watt would stay healthy

He hasn't, but he did stay healthy in 2020.

Thompson would blossom

Again, Thompson is playing about as well as he has previously, but he hasn't gotten bitten by the injury bug.

Conner would be this good

3.9 yards per carry isn't super good. Conner is playing around how he played with Pittsburgh when their line didn't suck.

Kingsbury would come of age

You don't think people get better at their job?

Green would bounce back

He's having an ok year, but I would hardly call this a "bounce back" year considering he is a 7 time Pro Bowler.

Kyler would blossom

Again, this is just the faulty logic of the dark side. Players generally improve.

Yep. Teams grow. Take a few risks and the team is 8-1.

There were plenty of arguments about slot, starting corner etc.
The real surprise is just how much better than he is than most expected.
I think it’s safe to say he’s exceeded most expectations. JMHO.

My point is many didn’t see a lot of this happening and certainly not all of it.
Again we are comparing darksiders to koolaider. If you believed all this was going to happen that’s cool.
I didn’t. And I couldn’t be happier I was wrong.

Maybe but looking at schedule, preseason, to this point, I only thought the Jags and Texans were sure wins. They’ve beat a helluva bunch of good teams. Impressive.

You're right in the concept that Darksiders will be right 9/10 because of the history of the franchise.

But here is the thing...this was a bad offseason to be negative. Sure last season ended with a sour taste, but the team took a step forward last year, and it wasn't a stretch to say that 1) the young players (Murray, Murphy, etc.) would take another step forward 2) the players they brought in were accomplished enough and the team wasn't relying on any of them to be franchise saviors.

What I mean is that, this possibility wasn't that crazy. I thought the Cardinals would have a winning record and even worst case scenario wasn't going to be like a 3 win season. And even then I was wrong because this team might win 15 games. So if I, a somewhat koolaid drinker was wrong, the Darkside was VERY WRONG. Like ridiculously wrong and there were those of us who literally pointed out EVERY SINGLE THING WE ARE SEEING.

I thought Conner was going to be a solid player.
I thought Green was going to be solid.
I was wrong on Watt.
I thought Murray was going to be a semi-MVP type player this year.

I could go on and on and point fingers, but honestly, I think the darkside is happy too, so why do this? Just eat the damn crow and learn the lesson that this team isn't the same as what we saw under Bill Bidwill.

But your defense of crimson isn’t a defense at all bc his point was essentially that darksiders generally look like clowns. I don’t recall any darksider ever coming on the board and doing the same to the humpers during the 27 of 33 seasons during which the cardinals did not have a winning record.

Also, though the darksiders may have picked apart individual signings I didn’t see a whole lot of prognostications of doom. I don’t recall (I may be wrong) anyone saying anything close to 3 wins. I think most expected .500ish - which is right around where you called it (7-11 wins if I recall correctly).

It’s not so much you’ve upset me. I’ve actually been pretty middle of the road preseason and optimistic during it (called 11-0 after week 4). I’m just sick of seeing posters taking shots at other posters.

You can’t really hold kyler against the darkside. Historically cheese and I have been considered darkside royalty and we’ve been big kyler proponents. Heck, my kyler support predates your’s!

I liked the Conner signing but never realized how much of a power back he actually was or expected him to play at this level consistently. Dude has been tough as freaking nails and added a nasty to this offense. Love it

I see and delve into perspectives here, that had me banned on the team‘s site. Thanks for not being perfect, perfect is boring, hell sometimes I want to play in the mud with fellow fans, who Else would ponder cards possibilities.

I like crow, even when it’s positive, or the only thing left on the shelf. I predicted undefeated, first time, I’ll gladly eat that crow at 8~1 and fan hard for AJ green, we are a better team with him. I remember having our stadium occupied by opposing fans, raiders, bears, cowboys, most the time.

now we are good enough to fight amongst ourselves, I had my doubts about all drafted and signed. Tried not to be meely mouthed about it. Explained why and took the hits.

Forgiveness for sure. I really don’t hold grudges (mostly bc they’re not important enough to me to remember them). But I went off on a player who had a gaff that cost us a game in a game thread. I mean, that’s almost what ASFN is for.

Haven’t been here long but ive seen a “I was wrong” thread from you a few times lol.

Twice. I just like to own my takes. I think it's fair to be wrong when a team that hadn't won anything in 5 years with a coach that hasn't really won at any level is 8-1. I don't think there's many people here who can honestly say they thought we'd be anywhere near this.

It's not just that the darksiders are "wrong" sometimes.

It's that they are often so epically wrong, even when they should known to hedge their negative opinion based on available evidence. It makes them appear clownish. Murray, Green, Murphy and Conner are at least four examples.

"Player A is trash, not a big bruising back, washed up, slot corner, no desire, too short.. blah blah blah".

If you're going to poop on the parade because in your heart-of-hearts you think we desperately need a dose of truth, fine. But most people come on this board to hear positive things about the team. It's annoying when the darksiders are just throwing negative stuff against the wall to see what sticks. Just spoiling the mood.

I used to be a Koolaider. I'm not "throwing negative stuff against the wall." We have been a bad team to watch for four years, and it was getting exhausted. I'm not going to jump up and down and proclaim greatness every year, because it really ruins the season. Trust me, it's a lot more fun to walk into this season and embrace the success now that it's happening than it is to set high expectations and have them crushed.

But I'd really challenge for anyone to go back and find anything I was completely wrong about from an individual player take outside of Conner and maybe Kyler (who is having legit durability concerns now. Sure, we just snagged a win with McCoy, but does anyone have confidence about going through this season with Kyler missing games or dealing with a leg injury?).
