If we lose Humphries, and looking at the number of OT's closely ranked, I could see us trading back to the middle of the first round, and picking up another second rounder. That way, in the first two rounds we could address the OL, WR and Defensive Front Seven. And save a lot of CAP $$.

That’s hyperbole. I feel like you're really just talking about that LSU game.

Lamb also went against Big 12 defenses who seem to play off-man like almost all the time.

Gladney was the only big time CB he went against & Gladney pretty much won that battle.

Each & every day I’m starting to feel more comfortable with Ruggs over Lamb as well.

Spot on. Big12 defenses, all playing zone because of the mobile QB gives Lamb a massive amount of space.

He’s alive! I did have to worry if my memory had gotten so bad I didn’t realize I’m sick.

I’m flattered you asked, Brit. The question hinges in part on what they do with Humphries. If they let him walk And don’t get a replacement via trade or free agency I’d think they have to go LT in round 1. I can’t tell you why Thomas isn’t a fit. He’s not a pass blocking specialist, but he may well develop into the best LT of this bunch. Wills looks great at RT and can probably make the transition left. If they trade down, maybe Jones. None of that would be my choice.

I’d tag Humphries. Assuming we’re not going WR and staying OT, then you have to choose between Wirfs and Wills. Both should be solid RTs. Wirfs would likely stay at RT, but Wills would be better suited to move left if there’s an injury. If Humphries then leaves Wills goes to LT.

I favor tagging Humphries, taking Lamb and then going heavy D. Of course if a solid developable LT prospect pops up you grab him.

Clearly I’m thinking FAs significantly improve the D.

I’ll be interested to see the Combine numbers on the OTs. A bad FA period would, of course, change things.

OTs & WRs are notoriously hard to read. So either way it’s a gamble. Thanks for asking.

FYI it was Slanidrac who asked :)

But I would have done, if he hadn't, so it's ok.

I will also say that Justin Murray can play swing tackle. He played some LT at Cincinnati (although he was mainly RT) but has done both in various pre season games he has played.

So if we did draft a RT, it's possible Murray can become swing backup for when Hump is inevitably injured (sorry couldn't help myself)

So it sounds like Wills would be the best fit for the Cards.

I temember when the Cards drafted two OT’s, Luis Sharpe and Tootie Robbins. That worked out well.

Maybe that’s the way to go.

I was being facetious.

I'd have to watch Gladney's match up a little closer than just look at the numbers, just like I watched all of Murray's snaps against Alabama last year and saw what really happened.

Either way, Cardinals should just go receiver later, since I think the round 2 and 3 receivers are much closer than the tackle prospects.

I like Lamb alot more. You see him make contested catches that you dont see Jeudy make.

The recent talk is that Jeudy isnt nearly as revered among NFL scouts as he is with fans.
And this baffles me. Because his grades from most of the top level guys is still higher than Lamb. Scouts Inc for example has Jeudy above lamb. Not by a lot, but he is higher as the 7th rated prospect over Lamb at 10.

What's interesting is Kinlaw at 6 now. I love that guy but didn't consider if he would make the jump in to the top 10. Looks like he may have with that Senior Bowl performance.

Worth a read

https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2020-nfl-draft-position-rankings-offensive-tackles

There is much more of a drop off between the top 3 guys and the rest than people think

I have been saying this since December. the draft is extremely shallow in starting talent and slightly shallow in long term projects with superior athleticism.

fwiw: Max Starks on 98.7 said he didnt think Andrew Thomas was a good fit for KK's offense

not sure as to why.......
Probably because UGA is a traditional pro style offense and not a fast paced air raid style. But it will take any OT time to adjust to such a system unless you are drafting a kid from Texas Tech, Washington State or another Air Raid school.

No. The actual scouts arent on the road as much and they are sharing their view with guys like Jeremiah now. Jeudy ISNT a perfect prospect. While Jeudy is a great technician and is slippery, he doesnt have elite size or elite hands. Hes dropped too many balls in big moments.

I think this OL is better at tackle than any we've seen in years. 4-5 guys in 1st round probably.

Kinlaw is pretty damn good. He's an ascending player, really got better last year. Look at pics of Brown vs. Kinlaw. Kinlaw has a much bigger looking build. Brown looks chubby.

Figured, just checking. Really hoping we snag one of them, maybe even two. I wouldn't complain if the draft was OL, OL (depending on FA and all).

The issue with drafting TOO many OL is that there really isnt a ton of roster space right now.

Depends on how they feel about Miles, Cole, and Gaillard, and also if they move on from Shipley/Murray/Humphries. I expect most will be back and the Cardinals seem to like the young guys, so there really is probably just the spot that Gilbert held.

Miles and Gaillard mean nothing to me in terms of long term planning. 6th & 7th round picks almost never make it (no offense to those kids working to become great players). Cole's clearly just going to be a backup for the team, but he's versatile.

If we have a great OL prospect sitting there in front of us in the 1st/2nd, adios to those other guys.

I'm just going off what we hear and the fact that they jettisoned Cunningham with such ease because of how bullish they were on Miles. He was on the roster all year! That means they clearly very much like him, even though he didnt play.

Toth is another guy that people close to the team say they really like, but he was very raw coming out of USMA (Westpoint). Great physical profile and like all USMA players, very tough.

Jeudy vs. Lamb. I want a receiver who impacts their games immediately. Lamb was one of Murray’s key receivers. That rapport is typically not quick to develop if it develops at all. I’m not saying Jeudy is not a fine receiver, he’s just not Murray’s receiver. He likely will grow into a number one receiver. Lamb could start out that way. There aren’t any sure things but I’d say the odds here favor Lamb. If we’re talking with landing with any team Jeudy might be the pick. If we’re talking Cards I’d say Lamb has a huge edge.

I don’t see a #1 NFL receiver in Lamb’s future but I think he’ll produce right away because he’s so polished. Not many sub-200 lb receivers that don’t have blazing speed become elite in this league.

Sub 200? I don't know right now if is the accurate weight
Surely he plays much more bigger then his weight, he breaks tackles and his speed is underrated
Let's see at combine

That’s one of the aspects of his game that worries me given his weight/frame. If he’s above 200lb at the combine it will be similar to how Murray was over 200 lbs. Lots of fluids and a big breakfast.

He was listed 6'2 5/8 so he can easily play above 200

When Lamb got to OK he weighed 173. Now he’s pushing 200. He worked the last offseason to really enhance his strength & weight distribution. His YAC shows the results. He has plenty of frame to add more weight. He’s big enough and strong enough to handle CBs. Some safeties will be a problem but his agility will let him be successful. I do think he’ll be more successful working with Murray than elsewhere.

I read lamb has a burning desire to be the best at his craft and the willingness to put in the time. Reminds me of Fitz, so snatching him at 8 or later seems low risk to me.

Harry, can I ask why you feel this team needs an immediate impact player over an eventual superstar player? There isn't a soul on this website that wants to suffer through another losing season, but do you think we can really compete in our own division, much less the NFC?

I'm not interested in either WR at 8 where we stand today, but if we resolve some issues and are looking at that position, I want the guy with the long term success. To me, "immediate impact" players are for teams on the cusp of winning it all and need someone to fill a hole.

Solar,Solar,Solar. It’s the draft. We are not going to build a super bowl team in 2020. We need to keep adding pieces to the puzzle. Whether its a dynamic playmaking wr, or a cb or an OT or a DE.

If we knew Lamb was the next Michael Thomas would we be upset? If Wirfs turned out to be the next Levi Brown would we look back and say, “ Oh well, at the time it was the right thing to do.”?

I really don’t care if Johnson , Issabella or Butler we’re taken last year. Take the best player available regardless of position except QB. Keep adding pieces. If it’s Lamb we still need to hope one of our wr’s of our 2019 draft needs blossoms. Fitz cannot be counted on to play in 2021.

There is a hundred different ways to reconstruct this team but we have to do it with 2021 in mind. Everything is an “if”. So if we kept the offense intact and add Lamb it seems like they should be better.

I also guarantee you had Drake not come along we would be screaming how we needed to draft ( and probably overdraft) a running back this year.

Uh, that's kinda what I'm asking Harry... we aren't winning the Super Bowl in 2020 so if he thinks Jeudy is better than Lamb over time, why take Lamb for the "immediate impact?"
