148 M for Wiggns is too much.

That is definitely too much for him but I'm glad they're paying him because that should limit their ability to add more pieces later. They have a solid young core that was probably a year or two ahead of the Suns in terms of their development but they decided to add Butler and Teague in an attempt to compete now instead of waiting for the rest of their youth to mature.

They're still young and should be good for years to come but I think they'll be looking to move pieces in a year or two rather than adding to what they have, kind of like the Suns were forced to do during the Nash years. Minnesota isn't a big market and they'll be at the tax line soon. They'll have to decide to pay the luxury tax to keep their core together or move some of their players to retool on the cheap rather than keeping a larger group of players together for years to grow together and develop chemistry in order to compete, like the Spurs and Warriors did to create their dynasties.

That's a steal. What is Wiggins like 20-21? 6'8 rookie of the year averaged 23 points a game last year and is a lock down defender. He's only going to get better

Lock down defender?! He isn't even average, the guy is an abysmal defender!

You're not paying him (Wigs) now for what he might become. Did they even make the playoffs? I might need to read up on average wages but he's barely an all star and 150 M is just ludicrous. That should be reserved for the top 10 players in the league.

The hike in the salary cap makes deals look much bigger than everyone was used to. Wiggins deal isn't that bad, if you compare it to the max he could have gotten if he were a RFA. Otto Porter Jr just got a 4 year $106 million dollar max deal this summer from Brooklyn that Washington matched. If they resigned him to a 4 year max deal it would have been a bit higher because the team with the players bird rights can offer higher raises and then add on the 5th year and it would be about what Wiggins got. If Otto Porter can get the max in free agency as a restricted free agent then Wiggins would have also.

What "makes sense" to us lay people and what economics bear are two vastly different things.

Apparently Wade is now a free agent. There have been rumors he'll sign with the Cav's but OKC is also reported to be interested in signing him as well as a return to Miami. I think OKC would be the best place he could go, he'd probably have the starting spot there at SG while he might have to come off the bench anywhere else.

Purely looking at the Cavaliers trade with Boston, in terms of exchanging point guards, the Cavaliers got the short end of the stick.

I know Cleveland made the trade looking towards the future but Lebron's future is now.

Lebron calling Kyrie "kid" about 8 times during his press conference was a joke. Good for Kyrie
