2018 QB Class

2018 HAS to be the year where we draft a QB early. Idc if Carson bounces back after Game 1. Will we trade up? I hope so.

Here are the known QB prospects so far:

Lamar Jackson
Josh Rosen
Sam Darnold
Josh Allen

Not to mention, they'll be 1 or 2 more QBs catching steam halfway through the season.

I think Lamar & Rosen will be studs in the NFL. Lamar would be an ideal fit cause he has height(6'3) & the arm to play in this offense. Not to mention, his mobility is fantastic. I'm really weary on Darnold because his throwing motion. It reminds me so much of Blake Bortles', who is horrible. Then there is this thing with most USC QBs failing to live up to expectations in the NFL. There is some good things about him, though. He has a strong arm just like Lamar. I really don't want Josh Allen at all. Dude is inaccurate & super raw, but that's the guy I'm afraid Keim will draft. He has the frame, but the ability imo.

Shouldn't have let Houston move in front of us and pick Watson this year.

I would add Faulk to your list to keep a eye on. I want a QB that can move and I don't care if that fits BA's system. Change the system!

You're hyping the hell out of Jackson. The year RG3 won the Heismam he was a much better passer. Shame his pro career makes people forgot how good his Sr year was.

Jackson is listed at 215 and he's probably 205 tops after reportedly adding 10-15 lbs. RG3 ran a 4.4 flat at 223 lbs. Broke the vertical leap record for QB's and posted a 120" broad jump two years after tearing his ACL.

Darnold is a freak. The way he can throw strikes from the pocket AND on the move makes him the ideal NFL QB at this point in time. He will be #1 overall, barring something major happening with these guys.

Jackson will also be a great NFL starter. Just not the same amount of arm strength as Darnold, but otherwise, he is incredibly talented.


I am not as high on either Rosen or Mayfield, but both would been right at the top of the 2017 class. Lots of potential, but need the right team and coach to pick them IMO.

Even though he plays out of a shotgun, his middle of the field and deep throws are fun to watch. He's not shy and is pretty accurate.

I think Pat Mahomes is going to ease a lot of concerns over the spread offense in the coming years. Does it pad stats? Absolutely! But grading a prospect off of stats is pointless anyways. Your right in that he throws a great deep ball and seems to be able to make NFL caliber throws. He's a big dude too that should be able to take a hit.

I agree but I don't see why Jackson/RG3 comparisons are strictly race related. They have similar size and skill sets plus both are/will be combine record breaking athletes for their position. If there was a white guy that fit that bill I'd use him too.

I wouldn't say strong arm, but he is a accurate short & intermediate thrower.

Yeah I love Darnold's physical tools, he's not polished but he's young and appears to be able to learn.

I haven't seen too much of Jackson but if people don't like darnold because USC QB's tend to not be great, isn't it true that Louisville has had a run of stat fantastic QB's and none of them have panned out in the NFL?

I read an article today that said Rosen is the most NFL ready, it surprised me they were talking about his ability to see the field and find the open man, that IMO was his biggest issue his first 2 years. I don't know how many times I'd see a replay and there's a guy wide open he never saw.

UCLA is in a more wide open passing game offense not to the level Cal was in recent years but close, his stats are going to be better but I still have some questions.

But I do think this is the year to get a QB.

The big concern is our schedule, 49ers twice, Colts etc, we are almost assuredly going to win too many games to get a QB without moving up, what do we trade?

Brees is robotic in the pocket. Footwork and mechanics are impeccable. Mayfield is an ad-libber but he did clean it up better vs Ohio St.

To be fair, I haven't watched him yet this year, but as of last year, I had not seen a QB who showed that he wanted to make plays from inside the pocket. I am inherently skeptical of any QBs who do not show that desire. Maybe he has changed, but until I see it, I don't buy in. Also, I struggle to believe he is 6'3 200...maybe I am wrong, but I worry that he won't be able to stand up. Same size issue I had with Teddy Bridgewater and Jared Goff and RGIII.

Yes, I like Josh Allen's size, but he is super raw. I haven't watched enough Mason Rudolph. I like everything about Josh Rosen except he seems very lean.

Lamar Jackson will be fine in the NFL.He is learning when to run and when to throw it away although he has been forced to scramble more so far this season with a offensive line with a Freshman Center and Guard.Louisville 's defense stinks so Jackson is forced to constantly make things happen.I have watched him every year and he has improved his pocket presence .So simply saying he is a pink slip for a Coach is nonsense.
