:p

(not really a suggestion it would be the ultra nerdiest sign reference, but hey, like 5 lit-majors somewhere in the stadium would get a good chuckle out of it. )

Red is the new black is my favorite by far.

I hate it. We are saying one of the following:

#1. We want to be the Ravens because they were black

#2. Wearing red is a negative connotation (as it is supposed to be "Orange is the new black")

#3. We care more about a show about women in prison than we do about our 4-1 football team.

None of those options speak well of the Cardinals.

I like it, but not with same level of passion you have. My reasoning:

I hate it. We are saying one of the following:

#1. We want to be the Ravens because they were black

I read it as we are replacing the Ravens as an upper-tier team.

#2. Wearing red is a negative connotation (as it is supposed to be "Orange is the new black")

I read it as red jerseys are beginning to be more en vogue than the black ones because our teams are going in opposite directions.

#3. We care more about a show about women in prison than we do about our 4-1 football team.

Variations of this phrase have a history long before the Netflix series. It is pretty common. i.e. "40 is the new 30", etc...

None of those options speak well of the Cardinals.

I thought it just meant that wearing Red goes with everything...it's chic...en vogue...etc.

Or, you know, according to urban dictionary:

the new black
The new fad, trend, or style of the moment.

Background: Since black is always in style in the fashion industry, saying something is "the new black" means that it is the hottest new thing. This phrase can be used to call out the "coolness" of anything, it's not just limited to the fashion world
"Striptease aerobics is the new black."

"I just love your yellow purse. Yellow is the new black this season."

It just means that we are in style!
