Tony is going out in style. Not only on top, but clawing their way to the top to do it.

He is in his upper sixties and faces the possibility of rebuilding without Albert. I don't blame him for not dragging it on for another two or three years.

Congratulations, Tony. You motivated your team to exceed expectations to the ultimate degree -- the World Series championship.

I am glad his is gone for one reason: I hated watching his games. The matchup switches drug things out way too long and killed the momentum of virtually every game he ever managed. I guess he would never have a shot at catching Connie Mack, so he might as well hang it up on a high note.

The one thing that TonyL did that drove me crazy was bunting a runner to 2nd base with Albert on deck. Of course Pujols would be walked and the next guy would hit into a Double Play. At least until TL finally let Birkman bat behind AP.

I never understood the rationale behind taking the bat out of the hands of one of the best hitters in the history of baseball.

Duck that usually happened later in the game when a pitcher was inserted in the order and he wanted him to pitch to a matchup the next inning. I understood the rational but hated Pujols getting walked as well. I would say it worked in our favor in game 6 and 7 of the World Series:) I have mixed feelings on TLR retiring...can't argue with the success he has had and the guys who play for him love him. He got rid of the malcontents and the guys responded. He was loyal and paid a price for it with his legacy in the game. All and All I wish we were at the start of his tenure rather than the end.

I don't remember the Cards ever scoring after a sacrifice and an INT walk to Albert. I do remember Holliday GDP or striking out. I was screaming at the TV in both the NLCS and WS for TL to bat Berkman behind Pujols because Holliday just couldn't come thru when Albert was walked. And guess who hit behind Albert in games 6 and 7 of the WS.
