Thats my nightmare injury, I had to have a ligament removed in one of my knee surgeries and it makes me very susceptible to dislocating my kneecap so I think about it all the time. Hopefully the MRI comes back negative and he didn't tear anything and just dislocated it. But ugh, just the thought of that injury sends shivers down my spine. Speedy recovery Elliot!

I dislocated my kneecap, tore my ACL, MCL, and meniscus at Sun Devil Stadium after a Cardinal game. I dragged all the way down those train tracks for a 1/2 mile before I gave in and went to the hospital. It was painfull and since that happened it has popped out a few times. I still get horrors when that thing used to dislocate. It would be a popping sound and all of the sudden your leg has just gone in different directions.

Not good for Elliot, but this is what depth is for. I'm sure one of the "bubble" players is now chomping at the bit for his spot.

It depends on what the MRI says of course but if its just a dislocation and not tendon or ligament damage he will be out 4 to 6 weeks. The knee will be in a cast for a minimum of 2 weeks, most likely 3 weeks, then a few more weeks of rehab to build up the muscle again. Forgot which player this happened to last year but that's what happened.

The issue comes from once it happens once the likelihood that it happens again goes up pretty drastically, which means they will not push recovery and any time table given 9 times out of 10 you will use the worst case scenario timetable to rehab it and gain more muscle around the area before testing it again so even if it is the 4 to 6 week kind of dislocation we will without a doubt be looking at 6 weeks rather then 4 weeks.

I hear a very faint sound of Levi Jones calling right now.;)

Yeah, I think that's a real possibility. I'm sure Graves is going to make the call.

I feel bad for Elliot. He was getting a lot of love from the coaching staff.

This is why we should be cautious about prematurely locking up certain guys for roster spots while writing off other guys (especially rookies).

Suddenly Herman Johnson "moves up one" (as does veteran Ollie Ross).

That's why Early Doucet's injury situation may possibly have a huge bearing on Lance Long's immediate future.

And - as Wiz points out - If a guy (who looks great in practice) isn't getting it done in actual games, it becomes hard to justify keeping him.

Initial word is he'll be out a month. The MRI results were good and he was putting weight on it yesterday.

Putting weight on it doesnt really say much IMO. Lots of way worse injuries to the knee or the leg and players can still put their weight on it.

Out 6 weeks minimum to build up the muscles around it so it doesnt happen again, if he comes back in 4 weeks it will happen again within a year, bank on it. Its just like popping out your shoulder, once you do it once, the easier it is to do it again, so you better rehab it right or else.

Per Urban: " Elliot Vallejo is on crutches after dislocating his kneecap, but he said doctors are talking in terms of weeks and not months, which he sees as a good sign."
