An NBA season is MUCH longer and more grueling than college and high school, don't ignore that. The odds of him surviving an entire season aren't that great unless he's sitting on the bench the whole time.

That is quite true. As is the fact that he will be on a medical regiment to combat deterioration and that he is unlikely to play more than 15 minutes a game vs. the 30+ minutes a game he played at Pitt.
