There are rumors that former Grizzles head coach Marc Iavaroni will join the Raptors coaching staff next season.
Speculation increased a few weeks ago when Iavaroni showed up at a Toronto practice as an "observer."
Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo is reportedly behind the decision, which would include coach Jay Triano staying on as well.
Interesting.

I would've liked to have seen Iavaroni get a shot at coaching here again at some point......like next year.

Im fine w/ Gentry being retained as HC next year, but also would'vve been happy if they brought Ivaroni in as HC too. If they couldve brought Ivaroni back as lead assistant to Gentry next year that would've been ideal.

The Suns clearly have an identity crisis. The GM needs to decide who the Suns are going to be in the coming weeks including the coaches and players. Unfortunately I don't think Kerr has a clue. This is what worries me the most.

Unfortunately I think Kerr wants to turn the Suns into a Spurs clone. Its a fine idea I suppose, but without a Duncanbot of our own, it'll never really work. If he were smart, he would look at what the Suns have in the young star (Amare for the most part) department and create a system to take advantage of them. Or you ship out Amare, Shaq, Nash, and JRich and just play the lottery for a half a dozen years, but thats not a guarantee either.

Iavaroni was great, but its time to move on. Gentry is now THE MAN

I would be OK with moving away with Gentry too. He coached no better then Porter. Even after switching back to the Run and Gun system that people were clammering for....we still played about .500 ball. Not only that but we manged to give up more points per game and actually play worse defense under Gentry. Turnovers still continued despite the "we are playing half court which doesn't fit Nash" excuse.

It's time to get away from the D'Antoni system and D'Antoni mentored coaches.

Gentry is more of a Larry Brown pupil than a D'Antoni one.
Gentry has an identity and a head coaching ability outside of SSOL.

yeah hope the "7 seconds or Shaq" can develop fully and add some defensive dimensions to it. (Suppose Shaq would still be around next season)

Fire Gentry, Fire Kerr, and force Sarver to sell the team. If we're going to rebuild, let's rebuild from the top where the most incompetent people are.

I don't know if I buy it. Even if I did, unless this team does a complete overhaul..Gentry is going to continue to coach the same system with the same results.

I just feel like this teams needs to start from the foundation up this time around.

The Suns lack the direction only a good GM can provide. This leads to selecting the right coach and the right players for the system. I remember when BC hired D'Antoni and the Suns went after Nash and Q... they knew exactly what direction they wanted to go. I'm not wanting to revisit the past but the Suns need a HC and a GM with a decisive vision. Perhaps the Suns should consider hiring an experienced coach/GM but I do not know who that would be. The way I feel now the Suns are just floating out to sea and hoping something good happens along the way.

Hurtful? Naw... giving him credit for having a defensive clipboard at all is a compliment.

I used the wrong word there. I meant sore or hurting for us Suns fans, having the rep (and quite rightfully so) for being a next-to-no defense club for such a long time. My English could be better! :)
