Why Is Utah So Deadly In Their Homecourt?

I have read that Utah has the best home court record and have slaughtered teams left and right who dared to enter their arena. Why are they so deadly in that damn arena? Does the crowd give them extra strength and speed or something? Yet on the road, they are not as good?

How many jumpkicks will Bowen have this postseason?

I can't explain Utah's struggles on the road. They have a lot of young bench players, but their starters are all pretty experienced, mature guys that should be able to handle road games.

one scientific explanation is altitude (then factor in the changes in humidity and air pressure). that's not the only explanation though, i mean look at denver...

What an ass. I fear a Jazz Suns Matchup, Okur will take it outside on Shaq, Boozer would put up Big #'s on Amare, AK could beat Granthill, Deron can pop the 3 with all those bad inside matchups, Suns matchup bad with the Jazz

False, Shaq will be on boozer all game, and Shaq will unload a metric ton of hookshots on Boozer all night. Okur will light it up against Amare, but they have no answer to STAT anyway.

There is nothing in AK's arsenal that Hill couldn't shut down, and Raja will be playing out of his mind on defense against Deron.

My biggest fear all postseason will be our outside shooting. It is unacceptable in its present form, and we will go nowhere if we dont lock it down. Also, we will need Boris to show up and not Doris, for at least 75% of the games. That and our 3 ball are going to determine how far we go in the playoffs, make no mistakes about it.

not true. their starters have an average of 3.8 years experience in the league. their most experiences starter is kirilenko, with 6 years in the league. they are a really young team, and are not really experienced/mature yet.

The Jazz are a physical team and the refs allow them to play even more physical at home. I'm sure their fans energize them and that makes them play better also, but certain teams are always protected at home (like the Spurs).

The way the Refs call whistles on Amare and Oneal, I bet there will alot of times we have only one of those guys out there, With Doris on Okur. If Bell is on Deron, Nash cant cover Brewer he is 6'7 and pretty explosive, I dont see Nash covering him. One good thing about a Jazz and Suns matchup, I dont see the Jazz having a very deep Bench Millsap, Korver, Harpring, Thats a good thing.

you forgot to mention cj miles and ronnie price. they are 10 quality players deep, which is more than the suns can say

We also have the x-factor vs the Jazz: Giricek knows that team inside and out.

You will never see me put the words cj miles ronnie price and the words quality players, next to each other. If you make it in the NBA I guess you are a quality player, but those guys are nothing special. CJ Miles has some game, but Ronnie Price come on.

Yeah, but Williams has a leadership quality despite being young. Carlos Boozer is an All-Star. Okur has been in the league a while, even being part of a championship team. It's not like they have a bunch of kids running the show like Portland, for example.

ronnie price dunked "in yo face" on boozer when he was in sacramento. if he can do that to a power forward, he can easily do it against steve nash (but of course we have shaq in the lane so dream on :D )

i realize that they aren't all-stars or anything like that, but they are players who can play in the rotation on a championship quality team. both play very scrappy defense, and both can shoot the 3 well.

To answer the original question. One item few recognize. SLC has an elevation advantage over every other city in the NBA save Denver. SLC is at 4300 feet, Denver at 5200 feet.

Its enough to slow you down some, but not enough that you would quickly recognize why.

It's been recognized, but the inconsistent play of the nuggets seems to trump the argument.
