Oh, also, lets say the Knicks buyout Marbury and he can go sign whereever, why would he sign here? It makes much more sense for him to sign in say Boston, where they can then have the Big 4. He's already pals w/ KG, and its Easier to come out of the east. Or what about Cleveland, he'd perhaps be a good running mate for LeBron and they desperately need any sort of point guard.

Heck even Atlanta or LA would be better fits, though those teams aren't currently contenders, maybe they would be with a PG who can get you 12-15 points and 5-7 assists, I don't know. I'm just saying I doubt he wants to be a backup.

In Boston he could not only start but contend for a Championship as well. I think this would make Boston more attractive than some other teams. I really hope he does not end up there or the Lakers.

So, are you blaming the weather, or?

A lot has happened since he played here. Robert Horry used to wear purple and orange, would you welcome him for the vet min? Must I name more?

Um, Robert Horry threw a towel at OUR coaches face. If you listed him as your example, you couldn't have picked a worse one.

I remember and I agree, more or less, but I also remember that the uptempo game was definitely not a strength and neither was a ball movement half court game. In the P&R, he'd pass to the rolling man about 5% of the time. Add in the risk that he'd sulk coming off the bench or otherwise foul up the chemistry and I just don't see any point in trying to get him.

Nice try yourself.

I didn't say it was a perfect fit. I said for a minimum contract, he would be well worth it.

Another brilliant Sunsman44 thread. First off, no one wants Banks, we already know that. Second off, why would they move Mark Blount here? And most importantly, why on earth would you want Marbury here? Ever heard of team chemistry?

Do me a favor and delete your account. You clearly don't know anything related to professional basketball. Stop posing questions as a supposed wise reply. You just look like a fool doing it. Blount is a more than capable blocker and is seven feet tall.

Give me a freaking break. If we can accept guys like Sean Marks and Pike with a minimum contract, then guys like Marbury should be more than welcome. Take off those Sunsman44 hate glasses.

Exactly. Take off those hate glasses, HooverDam.

If the Suns can employ guys named Marks, Piatkowski, Banks, and Diaw - I am sure they wouldn't mind bringing in more talent named Marbury and Blount. Great point, Dreamcast. You know your stuff!

People in this forum have a problem against good depth, good defense, and talent. They seem to think the current Suns team is the greatest team on the planet where in fact they couldn't be further from truth - as the playoffs will point out once again!

Me, delete my account? You are an attention ******* baffoon who not only doesn't know anything about basketball or the NBA, but how to act in a public forum.

I'm asking questions to show how silly your ideas are.

Please answer any of the following:

1. Why do you think Mike D'Antoni would start Mark Blount over Grant Hill if he were here?

2. Why would the Heat just dump Blount?

3. Why would Marbury come to Phoenix instead of say Cleveland or Boston?

4. Why would the Suns, who's chemistry with Marion-Amare and others is already a question, want to bring a head case like Steph in and possibly upset things?

Why is that anytime someone disagrees with you they know nothing, but if they even halfway defend them, you love them? A truly 'wise' person knows that another person can disagree with him and not be an idiot. You really need to learn to tone down the attention ******* and learn to at least make an effort to disagree with out being disagreeable.

Furthermore, comparing the skill sets and contracts of players like Marks and Pike to those of Marbury and Blunt is so absurd that I can't even quantify it. Pike and Marks (at this point) are bench players, they know that and they don't mind. Marbury is good enough to start no most teams, and Blounts borderline starting talent on some teams, so why would they want to come here for no money and languish on the bench?

I'm all for quality depth and defense, but I also know how the NBA works and I'm not ignorant enough to think that guys who are All Star level talents are going to come sit on the bench for the minimum.

Sunsman, why don't you ever post during Suns games? Are you Robert Sarver?

DCR,

That was not at all the tone of your post, as you well know.

In fact, Marbs does fit in some ways with the current Suns, which went unmentioned in your posts. The principal thing is that we have good perimeter shooters now and he's quite good at kicking the ball out when he can't get all the way to the hoop. Second, he needs another playmaker on the floor with him because he's a one trick pony - Penny filled that role when he was fit to play and now we have Diaw and Hill.

Even so I'm far too concerned about his effect on the team chemistry to want to get him at any price. Now if there was some way to find out about his willingness to play hard consistently in a subordinate role, defense included, I might be persuaded. Having to bring him to find out is too risky.

I'd be awfully surprised if Marbury came here (his I Thomas comments did not sell well here), but I'll admit I do not have an answer to a key question: Is Stephon the way he is because he plays on bad teams or does he play on bad teams because of the way he is.

Yes you. Delete your account. That's right.

Please answer any of the following:

1. Why do you think Mike D'Antoni would start Mark Blount over Grant Hill if he were here?

Who said Blount would start over Hill? I've got Skinner starting over Hill. Not Blount.

2. Why would the Heat just dump Blount?

They seldom play him. Heat have 5 other bigs on that roster including Zo, Shaq, Johnson, and Haslem. Blount never gets time. He was a throw in for the Ricky Davis deal. That's all.

3. Why would Marbury come to Phoenix instead of say Cleveland or Boston?

I don't know. That's Kerr's job. Let him sweet talk him to come.

4. Why would the Suns, who's chemistry with Marion-Amare and others is already a question, want to bring a head case like Steph in and possibly upset things?

Hmm. Last time I checked, Marbury never had chemistry issues in a Phoenix uniform. In fact, he was one fantastic guard here. A mentor for Barbosa too.

I'm all for quality depth and defense, but I also know how the NBA works and I'm not ignorant enough to think that guys who are All Star level talents are going to come sit on the bench for the minimum.

Again, people on this forum - with exception to the 10 people on The Sunsman Defense Team - are against good depth, good defense, and better talent. The Sunsman Defense Team folks here know their basketball. Others do not because they think the current Suns club is made by God. We shall see when they fail to make the playoffs...

I tend to think Marbury could play well beside a tall PG in the right system. Banks might be a very poor man's version of Marbury. :)

I will always appreciate the way Marbury taught Barbosa to tuck the ball like a running back when driving into traffic in the lane.

I'd normally elaborate on this thread with a longer response however I can simply summarize by saying two things.

A) There's virtually no chance Marbury would agree to backing up ANYONE, let alone Steve Nash.

B) Him taking the vet minimum to go anywhere is about as likely.

In regard to B) Are you saying even if the Knicks bought him out he would not play for the veteran minimum? I ask because I think there's a real possibility the Knicks will buy him out and he would accept a veteran minimum contract for the rest of the year.

there is no way the knicks would buy him out. I just read some article on espn.com talking about marbury trade possibilities and the teams that might be interested.

Then there's some real hope for trading Banks. :D

sunsman, what on earth are you talking about? marbury is greedy, and we know this, so he would not ever come to the team that traded him for the minimum. He is the self-proclaimed best PG in the league, you think the best pg in the league plays for the minimum? no. i dont agree that he is but in his own little world.... also, he left the knicks because he was getting benched in favor of NATE ROBINSON. why would he come here where he would have to wait for minutes behind the real greatest pg in the league?

we already have marion full of himself upsetting chemistry somewhat, why on earth would we bring in a headcase like marbury?

Maybe I'm not quite up to date on my Marbury news, but what exactly makes him greedy, and what makes that a fact?

maybe greedy isn't exactly the correct term. self-centered perhaps is a better fit? like i said, he thinks he's the greatest and it would be demeaning for the best to sign for the minimum. he's an egomaniac. look at that interview with what'shisname, he is certainly insane.

he sold cheap shoes right?
is that greedy?

i'm not sure if that's meant to be a joke or not, but reguardless...

the guy is greedy for playing time, we can say that much. that's why he would rather pay a 195k fine than come off the bench.
