Major League Baseball announced its All-Stars over the weekend, something that always gets met with some criticism. Major League Baseball has done a good job of allowing fans and players to vote, but we've certainly seen moments when it doesn't make much sense regarding who gets selected for the games. With the All-Star Game being held in Philadelphia, it wasn't surprising to see the Philadelphia Phillies have five selections.

However, it was those who didn't get selected in Philadelphia who raised far more questions than anything else. After dealing with blood clots a year ago, right-hander Zack Wheeler missed the start of the 2026 regular season.

Wheeler, however, has been one of the best starters in Major League Baseball over the past few seasons, and while there were some questions about how he looked after this injury, he's come back and is throwing the baseball at a ridiculous level. In fact, there's a strong argument to be made that he's still one of the top starters in the game, and the numbers suggest that.

That's why his agent coming out and saying what he did isn't unfair at all, as Wheeler, like many others, didn't get the honor of being an All-Star this season.

“You know what he wanted to talk about?” B.B. Abbott said, per The Athletic. “‘I’ll have enough starts, I’ll get my innings, I want to get back and win the World Series and win a Cy Young.’ There was no doubt in his mind that he was getting back to this level. None. Zero. He thought this was just like, you know, he broke his arm. It never dawned on him that he wasn’t going to continue doing what he had done the last 10 years. At all.”

“Major League Baseball knows,” said Abbott, an executive vice president at The Team. “Everybody knows what he’s been through. And to not do what you needed to do to let this guy be honored in his home ballpark, it’s ludicrous.”

There's a very good chance that we will see Wheeler added to the roster, as that isn't unheard of.

With this game being in Philadelphia, it would make a lot of sense if the league decided to do that.

However, as of right now, that decision hasn't been made. He continues to do everything and more that any team in Major League Baseball could be asking for, meaning that Wheeler should be an All-Star, and there's even an argument that he should be the starter because of the game being in Philadelphia.
