YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown State Men’s and Women’s track and field teams both won the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships at YSU on Sunday.
The men’s team won its 11th consecutive Horizon League Indoor title. The men set a new meet record for total points (279 points) and margin of victory (196 points).
The YSU men won seven events on Sunday. Jake Mcentyre (Sprinting 60m and 200m), Brandon Hutchinson (heptathlon), Micah Mitchell (60m hurdles), Trenton Shutters (800m), Jaden Kirkwood (shotput), and Brayden Green (triple jump).
The women’s team won its second straight Horizon League Indoor title and scored in every single event. YSU finished with 165 points for the program’s 14th indoor title.
YSU women’s Lea Parham set a new program record in her 60m hurdles title win. McKinley Fielding also won the Horizon League mile champion title.
The ‘Guins Tori Atkins set a new program record in the 400m of 55.46 seconds and finished second.
YSU’s head coach Brian Gorby was also named both the men’s and women’s Horizon League Track and Field coach of the year.
