The New York Yankees have emerged as one of the best teams early on in the 2025 season, sporting a solid 18-13 record and sitting atop the AL East with a plus 52 run differential.
A big piece to their success so far has been second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., who, after being traded for from the Miami Marlins in 2024, is enjoying his first full season in the pinstripes.
Unfortunately, though, before they start their three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, the Yankees announced that Chisholm would be placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right oblique strain.
Of course, this is a big loss for the Yankees, as he has been putting together a solid season, appearing in 30 games, accumulating 105 at-bats, 19 hits, 17 runs scored, seven home runs, 17 RBI and 15 walks with an OPS of .714.
This move likely doesn't come as a surprise, because on Wednesday, Greg Joyce of The New York Post reported that Chisholm was already dealing with oblique soreness and was scheduled to receive an MRI on Thursday.

However, the Yankees also revealed that this move was retroactive to Wednesday, which means that Chisholm has an expected return date in New York's lineup by May 10 if fully healthy, per ESPN.
Jorbit Vivas, who they called up with the potential to see playing time in his absence, has had a solid season at Triple-A, accumulating 94 at-bats, 30 hits, 17 runs scored, two home runs, 15 RBIs, 15 walks and an OPS of .862.

Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
•Recalled INF Jorbit Vivas (#90) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
•Placed INF Jazz Chisholm Jr. on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to 4/30) with a right oblique strain.
