Yankees’ Aaron Judge trade deadline plan won’t leave any fans happy originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.

As the New York Yankees continue to look for what they need at this year's Major League Baseball trade deadline, the health question of Aaron Judge is going to be something that continues to come up.

I hate to say it, but the Yankees would actually be making the right decision by not adding multiple players if Judge isn't healthy, and I don't think it's really fair to expect them to go out and make a blockbuster move or two if Judge isn't healthy.

Ultimately, the Yankees probably don't have much of a chance if Judge isn't in the lineup come October. That's why the latest report shouldn't really be too surprising.

“One team source said he thought the doctor’s assessment of Judge this week could heavily influence whether the Yankees go all in at the trade deadline or make modest upgrades,” Brendan Kuty reported.

“He’s the key to everything,” said the source, who was granted anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

Judge is obviously the key to everything this team does offensively, though I guess one could argue that the Yankees have such a good pitching staff that if they were to just get some decent offensive production come October, they could still be a team that wins a World Series.

Only time will tell on that front, but I wouldn't get your hopes up if you're a Yankees fan thinking that New York is going to make some blockbuster move if Judge isn't healthy.
