The largest FIFA World Cup in history kicked off with a bang on Thursday, June 11.
Two matches opened the tournament, with Mexico defeating South Africa and South Korea topping the Czech Republic.
The 2026 World Cup, which runs through July 19, will feature 48 teams and span three host countries: the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The action continues this weekend, with 10 more matches scheduled from Friday, June 12, through Sunday, June 14, across 10 different stadiums. Among the highlights is the United States’ matchup against Paraguay at Los Angeles Stadium on Friday evening, marking the first World Cup match played on U.S. soil in more than three decades.

In the United States, Fox holds the broadcast rights for the entire tournament. Every match will be available to stream on FOX One or through the FOX Sports app, which requires a TV provider login. Fans can watch live with a Fubo free trial.
For Spanish-language coverage, NBCUniversal holds the rights, while Bell Media will broadcast the matches in Canada.
A national poll from Emerson College Polling released June 11 found that 23% of Americans are interested in the World Cup, while another 33% say they are somewhat interested. Meanwhile, 45% said they are not interested at all.
“Interest in the World Cup is significantly higher among younger voters than older voters: 38% of voters under 40 are very interested in the World Cup, compared to 10% of voters 70 and over,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said in a news release.
Regionally, interest is highest in the Northeast at 25%, followed by the South and West at 23%, and the Midwest at 19%.
