Washington Wizards rookie Tre Johnson has been ruled out of playing on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings because of a sprained left ankle, the team announced.

Johnson suffered the injury in the second quarter on Thursday during a win over the Milwaukee Bucks when he landed on the foot of Ryan Rollins after a shot attempt. He was ruled out of returning, finishing with eight points and two rebounds in 11 minutes, 28 seconds.

The sixth overall pick didn't play on Friday during a 142-111 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Wizards coach Brian Keefe didn't have an update on the severity of the injury before the game.

The Wizards have listed Alex Sarr as questionable to play Sunday against Sacramento because of right calf soreness. Tre Johnson (ankle sprain), Tristan Vukcevic (hamstring strain), Trae Young (knee sprain/quad contusion) and Cam Whitmore (blood clot) are out.

Johnson was one of 10 rookies named to the Rising Stars Game, averaging 12.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 39.3% from 3-point range. He ranks sixth in rookie scoring and has the most 3-pointers through the first 39 games of a career in franchise history (84).

The 19-year-old has played a key role for Keefe and the Wizards, starting his last 17 games. He has scored in double figures 14 times over that span, averaging 14.8 points, three assists and 2.2 rebounds on 40.8% shooting from beyond the arc.

Johnson will miss his ninth game of the season after dealing with a hip injury in November. He and the team will be hopeful his latest setback won't force him to miss extended time.
