The Philadelphia 76ers shockingly won the LeBron James sweepstakes. ESPN's Shams Charania reports James is signing a two-year, $8 million deal with Philadelphia, starting a new chapter in his illustrious career.
One of things James is most proud of over his 23 NBA seasons is teaming with his son, Bronny James, on the Los Angeles Lakers. So, will the 76ers go after Bronny? It's complicated.
The Lakers apparently covet Bronny, a 2024 second-round pick who's gone on to play 42 regular-season games. The California Post's Khobi Price reported earlier this month L.A. would need a legitimate asset to part with him, so pairing father and son in Philly won't be easy.
"It would take something real for the Lakers to want to trade Bronny," Price said on 97.1 The Fan. "They developed him, they’re a fan of him, and he has a lot of supporters in the building."
The 6-foot-2 guard averages 2.7 points and 1.1 assists over his young career. While it'd be fun to see him continue his run with LeBron, there's no guarantee it'll happen because he's under contract through next season with a team option for 2027-28.
