With so many injuries to their lineup, the New York Yankees should be one of the more aggressive clubs at this year's MLB trade deadline.
The only prospect who could be considered off limits for the Yankees is shortstop George Lombard Jr. General manager Brian Cashman may be reluctant to include the shortstop's name in trade talks.
Other prospects who could help the Yankees land impact pacts should be considered up for grabs for the right player and price.
Francys Romero reported Thursday that the Yankees held one of their top prospects out of Single-A Tampa's lineup, but it wasn't for the reason you're likely thinking of.
"Yankees OF prospect Wilberson De Peña was not in the Single-A lineup today due to a scheduled day off," Romero wrote on X.
De Peña, acquired from the Los Angeles Angels last summer for infielder Oswald Peraza, homered on the first Single-A pitch he saw on Wednesday. With 16 home runs, 67 RBIs, and a .358 batting average, the 19-year-old won the Florida Complex League triple crown.

Will the Yankees consider moving De Pena, one year after they acquired him from the Angels?
"However, according to sources, three to four teams currently engaged in trade discussions with the Yankees have inquired about De Peña, who leads the FCL with 16 HR," Romero added.
De Peña wasn't in yesterday's lineup due to a scheduled off day, but a handful of organizations are showing interest in acquiring him after an impressive showing in the FCL.
