The USMNT’s woes continue even after their embarrassing elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Belgium gave the USMNT a thrashing during their Round of 16 battle, with a 4-1 win over the hosts, as it exposed some major flaws in their current squad.

Despite that embarrassing exit, the USMNT will receive $16 million from FIFA for reaching the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

However, the actual payout will be far less for the USMNT stars, as the US Soccer Women’s National Team will take away 50% of their payday.

USMNT and USWNT’s 2022 collective bargaining agreement explains $16 million payout division​

Even before a single dollar reaches the pockets of USMNT players, the US Soccer federation will keep 20% of the $16 million reward from FIFA, i.e., $3.2 million.

Now, according to The Athletic, the rest of the $12.8 million will be divided equally between the players of the USMNT and USWNT. Why? Well, it’s because of the collective bargaining agreement signed between the two teams.

In simple terms, the USWNT players will each receive about $246,153 per player without even participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

For what it’s worth, it’s a two-way street, and the USMNT will benefit from this CBA during the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

For now, the USWNT’s share of the $12.8 million prize money sits in an interest-bearing account, as the money will hit the accounts of the players at the end of the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
