The New Orleans Saints opened their checkbooks for former Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne Jr.

Etienne, who is from Louisiana, wanted to be closer to home, which is why he signed with the Saints. While with the Jaguars, Etienne rushed for 3,798 rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns.

But Etienne was also known for being a great pass catcher, as well as setting a team record this season with the number of touchdowns caught by a Jaguars running back in one game.

According to reports, Etienne signed a four-year contract worth $52 million.

His former Jaguars and Clemson teammate, Trevor Lawrence, had an emotional farewell to his former teammate and posted this on social media;

“We’ve come a long way!! Going to miss you man, been a hell of an 8-year run. Best is yet to come.”

Lawrence and Etienne have been teammates for almost a decade, so it’s definitely the end of a very successful era for both.

But as he gets older, Etienne is obviously prioritizing family over everything else, as he chose to be closer to his family and to end his career in New Orleans rather than Jacksonville.
