We're months away from the start of the 2026 NFL season, but NBC is already raring to make changes to its flagship studio show, Football Night in America. The program primarily provides coverage for the network's Sunday Night Football broadcast package, the headline, primetime night game of almost every NFL regular-season Sunday.
One of those changes reportedly involves the ouster of long-time analyst and former NFL head coach, Tony Dungy.
According to Andrew Marchand of The Athletic, NBC is letting Dungy go as "one of the first decisions in what is anticipated to be a new-look show.” The said new-look show will likely involve a more concerted effort to send NBC's lead panel to the site of every Sunday night game, with a smaller, more focused main lineup of analysts. NBC has been using 10 different people here in recent years, which feels awkward for a sports television show, even on paper.
It is important to note that Dungy has not yet been officially fired at the time of this writing, but it does sound increasingly likely. And judging by this report, he might very well not be the only one out at NBC.
