The Buffalo Bills and Las Vegas Raiders agreed to a trade on Sunday night involving cornerback Taron Johnson.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bills are trading Johnson and a seventh-round pick to the Raiders for a sixth-round selection.
"Trade: The Raiders are trading for Bills veteran CB Taron Johnson, sources say. It's a 6/7 pick swap. Johnson was announced as a release, but not officially on the wire yet. Las Vegas pounces," Rapoport reported.
Why Bills, Raiders pulled off trade involving Taron Johnson
The Bills are $12 million under the cap, so moving on from Johnson to save some money was a move on the table.
It was initially reported that Buffalo would release Johnson, but they instead worked him on a trade and got some capital back for a starter.
As for the Raiders, adding Johnson fills their need for a nickel corner. Though Johnson struggled a bit in 2025, he is one of the better slot corners in football when healthy and immediately steps in as a starter on Las Vegas' defense.
