I'd go with the Spurs based on our season performance against them, 3 and 1 with an impressive win tonight. Our only loss was against them in OT and we have already beat them on their home court. Maybe going against the Spurs instead of Dallas will give us an advantage?
Many people may overlook us because of our 8th seed, but we are capable of surprising alot of people. Suns playing their best ball of the season. Keep it up

We've won 3 of 4 from SA. It's gotta be the Spurs. They'll be tough but we just seem to have their number for whatever reason and Parker has no idea how to stop Marbury.

- Dallas. If without a 100% Michael Finley (doubt he'll be healthy).

I'm worried Tim Duncan will be too hard to stop in a 7 game series. And, it forces PHX to constantly match up according to who SA throws out there.

However, I'm ecstatic the way PHX is playing right now. The only teams that seem to have their number are LA & SAC.

Bring 'em on!

Well it looks like Dallas, Sacramento & the Lakers will all end up in the same bracket. So if the Suns can get through SA and then the winner of Minnesota & Portland then they could end up playing LA, Dallas or Sacramento in the conference finals.

I don't care whether Michael Finley is healthy or not. The Phoenix Suns are better off facing the San Antonio Spurs. Tim Duncan did not have a bad night tonight. The Suns shut him down.

My only concerned with facing the San Antonio Spurs is that the referees could really help them out. But tonight the referees really did about as much as they can for San Antonio, and the Suns still won the game.

I am probably the only other person on this board prefers the Mavs without a healthy Finley over the Spurs.

Tim Duncan is too tough to stop, they will dominate the paint and rebounding.

Against the Mavs with Finley not being 100%, the only advantage I see is they have better shooters and maybe some more depth than the suns, but we are going to only play 7-8 players anyway in the playoffs. In terms of rebounding, defense and chemistry, the suns are just as good. So we will have a equal chance of blowing them out or get blown out by them. The key I think is to contain Nash which is very possible with Marbury tiring him out on defense. But for Duncan, I just don't see ANYONE in the NBA stopping him getting his 30/15.

2 of the times the Phoenix Suns have beaten the Spurs it did not matter that Tim Duncan went wild. Yesterday the Suns basically shut him down. In one might suspect that the referees helped if you were looking at his line from last night. But that just isn't true. If anything the referees called the game in favor of the San Antonio Spurs. Some teams just matchup well with others. Even though the Spurs are one of the very best teams in the NBA the Phoenix Suns seem to matchup well with them.

I'm actually more afraid of what Dirk Nowitzki could do against the Suns than Tim Duncan. And Nowitzki is surrounded by great scorers. The latest victory against Dallas was great, but keep in mind they had played the Lakers late in the night before. Steve Nash looked like crap.

I think the Suns could beat either of those teams, but I sure like their chances against San Antonio a lot more.

The Spurs are a team that is alot similar to the Houston team that beat the Suns in the second round twice in the mid 90's. A big man surrounded by role players (not great scorers). Maybe I haven't recovered from the disappointments, thus is more afraid of a team like that.

It looks like we will take on the Spurs, should be interesting since first round are now best out of 7.

Well I like us VS Dallas more.

Dallas has no defense, and we can get in the paint on them. While they will take jump shots all night.

And the Spurs are to dominant in the paint, both on defense and offense...

I know we have done well vs the spurs but the playoffs will be 100% different. They know we have beat them so they will take us more seriously next time...

I would vote for Dallas, but at this point I dont care, i just want to kick someones butt in the playoffs!!!

Guys, there is one fundamental difference between San Antonio and Dallas. San Antonio has one superstar whereas Dallas has 4 or five guys who can put 35 point on the scoreboard any given night.

Dallas has more offensive weapons than Phoenix.
Steve Nash, Nick the Quick, Dirk Nowitzki, Mike Finley are all able to score 30 point easily. Then you never know what Williams, LaFrenz, Buckner, Johnson, etc are going to give you.

San Antonio on the other hand, has Tim Duncan, in my oppinion
the best basketball player in the world. Several people have expressed their concerns with stopping Tim Duncan. Guys, nobody in the NBA is able to stop Tim. He is too good. Tim will get his 30 points, 15 rebounds in the playoffs against the Suns.

The trick is to stop Tim's supporting cast from having big games. If Phoenix can contain Tony Parker, Steven Jackson, Manu Ginobilli, etc from having big games the will win. There is no need to worry about Tim Duncan's numbers. Let his score his 30 points, but contain everybody else.

Phoenix is going to kick San Antonio's butt in the first round!
4-2 Phoenix.

IMO the Suns are much better off facing a team whose strength is defense than a powerful offensive team. That is especially true since the Mavericks' zone defense has given the Suns fits in the past.

Well, I think we should take it easy. Perhaps it's looking too far ahead, but if we beat Portland and Lakers win out, all of a sudden, the Lakers will end up on our half of the bracket. As it stand now, it's us, San Antonio, Minne, and Portland. I like our chances in that group more than us, San Antonio, Minne and the Lakers.
