LAWRENCE — As Kansas basketball looks ahead to Saturday’s senior day game at home against Kansas State, the Jayhawks will shake up their starting lineup for the event.
Although senior Tre White, senior Melvin Council Jr., freshman Bryson Tiller, freshman Darryn Peterson and sophomore Flory Bidunga started in No. 15 KU’s most recent game, earlier this week at Arizona State, that won’t be what the group looks like that goes out for the opening tip-off against the Wildcats. Kansas has six players who are set to be honored on senior day. Five of that group will start against Kansas State inside Allen Fieldhouse.

“We’re going to start Wilder (Evers) and Justin (Cross), and Jayden (Dawson) and Tre, and (Council), and then (Nginyu Ngala) will come off the bench,” KU coach Bill Self said Friday. “So, that’s how we’ll do it.”
However long that group remains in the game, the Jayhawks (21-9, 11-6 in Big 12) are going to look to bounce back after a pair of Big 12 Conference losses on the road. They’re also still looking to set themselves up for a quality seed in the Big 12 tournament, set for next week in Kansas City, Missouri. The first time these two teams met this season, in Manhattan, Kansas, KU won 86-62.
Evers, listed as a redshirt junior, has spent his entire college career with the Jayhawks. Cross, listed as a redshirt senior, spent multiple years at Kansas after previously competing at John A. Logan College. Dawson, White, Council and Ngala are all in their first season at KU, with Ngala listed as a graduate.
