The Las Vegas Raiders registered 37 sacks throughout the 2025 season. It was tied for 20th in the league in that department. It's a rather average result that isn't disastrous, but new defensive coordinator Rob Leonard will be hoping for better in 2026.
Of course, nobody knows this Raiders defensive line better than Coach Leonard does. Leonard served as the team's defensive line position coach last season and was promoted to coordinator by head coach Klint Kubiak.
The Raiders made some big changes across the front seven in hopes of securing defensive improvement. Malcolm Koonce was re-signed, but it's reinforcements Kwity Paye, Quay Walker, and Nakobe Dean who are leading the charge. The Raiders also used a draft pick on Keyron Crawford.
Despite all the changes, Maxx Crosby remains the overwhelming favorite to lead the Raiders in sacks again in 2026. Even though Crosby was limited to 15 appearances last season, he still posted a team-high 10 sacks. He's led the Raiders in sacks in four consecutive campaigns. Yannick Ngakoue (2021) was the last player other than Crosby to lead the Raiders in quarterback takedowns.
Hopefully additions like Paye and Crawford add much-needing supporting juice to the pass rush. Until noted otherwise, Crosby is still the Raiders' best pass rusher. He should enjoy his fifth double-digit sack campaign in 2026.
