The United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina face off in the World Cup round of 32 on Wednesday night.
The U.S. finished atop Group D, clinching first with a 4-1 win over Paraguay and a 2-0 win over Australia before a much-changed side lost 3-2 to Turkey in its group finale.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, which qualified for the tournament by knocking out four-time World Cup winner Italy in the European playoffs, finished third in Group C with four points. The Dragons drew with co-host Canada, lost to Switzerland and beat Qatar 3-1 to advance as one of the eight best third-place teams. It is their first appearance in the World Cup knockout stage.
The United States and Bosnia and Herzegovina will square off in Santa Clara at Levi's Stadium.
Referee Raphael Claus of Brazil will take charge of the match. He will be assisted by his countrymen Danilo Manis and Rodrigo Figueredo.
Claus, 46, is one of the most experienced officials at the 2026 World Cup. He has been a FIFA referee since 2015, worked the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was in charge of the 2024 Copa America final.
