MEXICO CITY — Mexico and Ecuador face off in one of the more intriguing round of 32 matchups of the World Cup on Tuesday, June 30.
El Tri finished atop Group A after sweeping all three opponents, accumulating nine points for the first time in the country's history.
Ecuador, meanwhile, finished third in Group E after a loss to Ivory Coast, draw with Curacao and a come-from-behind win over group winner Germany. Mexico and Ecuador will square off at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City for a spot in the round of 16.
Referee Slavko Vinčić from Slovenia will take charge of the match. He will be assisted by his countrymen Tomaž Klančnik and Andraz Kovacic.
