The Milwaukee Brewers and Houston Astros made a very notable trade on Wednesday, sending right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. to Milwaukee.

This will be McCullers' first organization outside of the Astros since he was drafted in 2012.

McCullers agreed to waive his no-trade clause for the deal to go through.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Brewers also acquired lefty reliever Colton Gordon in the trade.

Gordon, 27, has made four appearances with the Astros this season, and 24 overall since the start of 2025.

He has allowed a staggering 2.5 home runs per nine in 95.1 MLB innings, posting a 5.95 ERA during that time.

"The extent to which Milwaukee can control Gordon will depend on how much time he spends on the big league roster through season’s end. He entered the 2026 campaign with 112 days of major league service and has since tacked on another 14," Steve Adams of MLB Trade Rumors wrote.

"If he spends 46 more days on the major league roster/injured list, he’d reach one full year of service time and be controllable five more years, through 2031," Adams added.

Despite his struggles in the Majors, Gordon has strong minor league numbers. McCullers was the temporary prize.

However, perhaps the Astros see potential in the 6-foot-4 University of Central Florida product.
