The Green Bay Packers checked the box at wide receiver during the first round of the 2025 draft by taking Matthew Golden out of Texas at No. 23 overall. The Longhorns receiver immediately provides a much-needed speed element to the Packers passing game and could eventually develop into a top target for Jordan Love. The need at receiver was clear entering Thursday night but is likely now satisfied with a versatile, speedy player like Golden selected.

After taking a wide receiver in the first round for the first time in 23 years, the Packers will go into Day 2 of the 2025 draft with a few remaining obvious needs at defensive end, defensive tackle and cornerback, with offensive line another possibility given the concerning lack of depth behind the top six up front.

Here's who is left at the Packers' biggest remaining need positions:

Defensive end

The Packers passed on several intriguing pass-rushers in the first round, including Donovan Ezeiruaku, Mike Green and James Pearce. To be fair, none of the three represented a perfect fit for what the Packers like at edge rusher. There are likely better fits to be had around the Packers' pick at No. 54 in the second round or even No. 87 in the third round.

Potential Day 2 options: Nic Scourton, Landon Jackson, JT Tuimoloau, Jordan Burch, Bradyn Swinson, Sai'von Jones, Kyle Kennard, Ashton Gillotte, Barryn Sorrell

Defensive tackle

The Packers saw Kenneth Grant, Walter Nolen and Derrick Harmon all come off the board between picks No. 13 and 21. Grant and Harmon were particularly interesting for Green Bay given their potential versatility to play one-tech and three-tech. Tyleik Williams went to Detroit towards the end of the first round, taking another player off the board. This is a deep position, and the Packers will likely end up with at least one before the draft is done.

Potential Day 2 options: TJ Sanders, Darius Alexander, Alfred Collins, Shemar Turner, Joshua Farmer, Elijah Roberts, Ty Robinson

Cornerback

Will Johnson and Maxwell Hairston were both on the board at No. 23, but the Packers passed on both. Johnson has a medical red flag, Hairston might be too light and has other potential off-field red flags. How far will Johnson fall into the second round? There is still plenty of intriguing targets at corner entering Day 2. The Packers probably need to add competition to raise the talent level of this premium position entering 2025.

Potential Day 2 options: Trey Amos, Benjamin Morrison, Shavon Revel, Azareye'h Thomas, Darien Porter, Nohl Williams, Quincy Riley

Offensive line

The Packers have six offensive linemen they believe can start entering 2025, a luxury for most teams. But there are short-term depth needs and potentially long-term (as soon as 2026) starting needs. The Packers are excellent at finding quality offensive linemen outside of the first round, and specifically on Day 3. But they could still add here on Friday if the right player is available.

Potential Day 2 options: Jared Wilson, Aireontae Ersery, Ozzy Trapilo, Jonah Savaiinaea, Wyatt Milum, Marcus Mbow, Tate Ratledge, Anthony Belton, Caleb Rogers
