Riley Greene played a pivotal role in bringing fans back to UPMC Park during the 2021 season.
After a canceled season in 2020 and the threat of losing the team during the pandemic, Greene put together a big season for the SeaWolves to be named an Eastern League all-star, a Future Game selection and was an organizational all-star.
On Friday, Greene made MLB history for the Detroit Tigers, becoming the first player to ever hit two home runs in the ninth inning.

The score was tied at one when Greene blasted a home run to right-center and gave Detroit a 2-1 lead. Colt Keith, another former SeaWolves player, followed with a home run for the Tigers. Detroit hitters kept reaching base and when Spencer Torkelson, another former SeaWolves standout, drew a two-out walk, Greene came to the plate and hammered a three-run home run to centerfield.
Greene is hitting .274 this season with eight home runs and 21 RBIs in 135 at-bats.
Former SeaWolves infielder Eugenio Suarez continued his impressive major league career with a rare feat on April 26. Suarez clubbed four home runs in one game to tie the major league record. He became the 19th player in major league history to hit four homers in a game.
Suarez, who played for the SeaWolves in 2013 and 2014, plays third base for Arizona. He started his historic performance with a solo home run to left-center in the second inning, before a two-run home run to left-center in the fourth inning. He hit a solo homer to center in the sixth inning for his third home run before a solo homer to left in the ninth inning to force extra innings.
