Three months after their instant-classic showdown in the Milan Olympics men's hockey final, the United States and Canada meet again Thursday.
The stakes aren't as high and the cast of characters is different, but the IIHF World Championship quarterfinals are a win-or-go-home proposition for the North American rivals, so the intensity will be there as always.
While Team USA prevailed in Italy and won Worlds last year, the Canadians will be clear favorites this time around in Switzerland. Led by Sidney Crosby and Macklin Celebrini, they rolled through Group B play unbeaten, with an overtime win against Norway a week ago their only scare to this point.
Ryan O'Reilly had a late goal to send that game to OT, one of his five in group play to tie him for second among all players along with Celebrini and four others. Crosby had nine assists in those seven games, tied for the most in the tournament.
Matthew Tkachuk and Team USA had a tougher time, allowing three goals per game and needing wins the last two days of group play to secure their spot in the knockout stage. They seem to be getting hot at the right time, but they're running into a potential buzzsaw in Canada.
Who will move on to the semifinals? Here's all you need to know to tune in and watch the action.
