With the T20 World Cup 2026 triumph now behind them, India are shifting focus toward the next edition and the Los Angeles Olympics, both set to take place in 2028, starting with a two-match series against Ireland in Belfast on June 26 and 28.
Familiar names from the World Cup run, including Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Ishan Kishan and Sanju Samson, remain part of the setup.
However, title-winning captain Suryakumar Yadav has been left out entirely, having struggled for runs both in franchise cricket and for the national team, a slump that ultimately cost him both his place and the captaincy.
Shreyas Iyer has been handed the T20I leadership role instead, in recognition of his captaincy record in the IPL over the past three seasons.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who became the youngest player ever to win the IPL Orange Cap at just 15, has earned his first senior call-up, alongside fellow newcomers Suryansh Shedge and Prince Yadav, the latter having already made his ODI debut against Afghanistan.
