As we get deeper into the second half of the college football offseason, you will start to see more and more lists come to the forefront, with content producers looking to fill the space. Many of these lists have to do with top teams, or top players in the sport, both of which the Oregon Ducks, or Oregon players, are featured on, usually near the top.
Dante Moore is the usual suspect, often regarded as one of the best players in the nation. This past week, it was Moore who landed at the No. 2 spot in On3's ranking of the top-100 players in 2026. Now, when you look at the potential Heisman Trophy contenders, Moore finds himself among the top options, as well.
Earlier this week, ESPN put out a list of the top 10 Heisman contenders going into the year, and Moore landed at No. 3.
"Moore, who could have been the No. 2 pick in this year's NFL draft, returned to Eugene to quarterback the Ducks for a second year," ESPN's Jake Trotter writes. "Moore is accurate and always hunting big plays. He ranked fifth nationally with a completion rate of 71.8% and led all Power 4 QBs with 64 completions of 20 yards or more."
The only two players ahead of Moore on ESPN's list are Texas Longhorns QB Arch Manning and Notre Dame Fighting Irish QB CJ Carr.
After a successful season where he almost led the Ducks to a spot in the national championship game, Moore learned a lot, particularly at the end of the year with a brutal loss to the Indiana Hoosiers in the Peach Bowl, where he had three first-half turnovers in a blowout loss. Now, with another year to learn and develop, Moore feels that he has a lot of room to grow and improve, which could undoubtedly lead to a Heisman-like season in Eugene.
