On the Monday following the 2025 NFL draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers got to work making multiple roster moves. The team released defensive back Ryan Watts with a career-ending neck injury and also released defensive tackle Montravius Adams. The Steelers also signed veteran wide receiver Robert Woods to a one-year contract.
Here are the five things the addition of Woods means for the Steelers.
Pittsburgh's skill-position players are really shaping up to be very good and the offensive line should continue to improve, which puts even more heat on the front office not to let the quarterback be the weak link.
The addition of Woods creates a roster battle between Scotty Miller and Roman Wilson for the final spot on the roster.
Woods' ability to line up outside is something the Steelers didn't have from the third receiver last season but now Woods can split out wide and let George Pickens work from the slot.
One aspect of Woods' game that goes unmentioned is his run blocking. Woods is a selfless veteran and will be a much stronger blocker as the third wide receiver over Calvin Austin III
