Day 29 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup sees the quarterfinals commence with a single match on the slate. France meets Morocco at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough in a rematch of a 2022 World Cup semifinal, which France won 2-0 on their way to the final. Both teams arrive undefeated across five games.

All times Eastern and accurate as of Thursday, July 8, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Quarterfinals: France vs Morocco

Time/TV: 4:00 PM ET on Fox at Gillette Stadiumin Foxborough, Massachusetts,

Why watch: France has been the most impressive team in the tournament and many people’s current favorite to be the last side standing. In their way is a feisty, talented, and organized Morocco, looking for revenge. The Africans are a national team on the ascendancy after their amazing run in 2022. Can they finally get over the hump and truly announce themselves as an elite team? This should be a fascinating quarterfinal matchup.

Why it could disappoint: A big part of Morocco’s success is their structure and discipline. They are going to sit back, play cautiously and pick their moments to try and strike. It’s an extremely effective tactic, but sometimes can make for stale viewing. France’s all-star roster is well-known and usually must-see TV. If Didier Deschamps’ side can find an early goal to open things up, this should be a fun watch. If they struggle to break Morocco down like they did Paraguay, it could be another slog.
