The Washington Commanders concluded mandatory minicamp on Friday, and now the team gets to take some time off before the real work begins. Training camp is where we get a clearer picture of what each NFL team will look like during the upcoming season. The roster will change, joint practices will take place, tempers will flare, and teams will finalize their 53-man rosters by the end of August.

The Commanders' rookies will report to Commanders Park in Ashburn, Virginia, on July 24. They'll have a few days to reacclimate to the facility and complete some extra training before the veterans arrive on July 28.

As training camp continues through the preseason, the Commanders will host the Miami Dolphins for a joint practice on August 12, and they'll visit the Baltimore Ravens for another joint practice on August 26. Both practices are ahead of the team's meeting in preseason action.

CBS Sports recently named each team's biggest storyline through training camp, too. For the Commanders, it's once again about Jayden Daniels.

Jayden Daniels in a new offense

The Commanders were almost always in the shotgun under Kliff Kingsbury, which produced some magnificent highs. Now, though, the Commanders are going to be utilizing more under-center, play-action passes under first-time offensive coordinator. David Blough. It'll be a big adjustment for Jayden Daniels, who doesn't, on paper, have much in the way of proven receiving options outside Terry McLaurin.

They aren't wrong; aside from Terry McLaurin, Daniels doesn't have many proven top options to target. That may change as the team goes through training camp, though. There has already been talk about Antonio Williams being better than advertised, and Brandon Aiyuk has spent a lot of time in Virginia lately, likely making a case for the Commanders to pick him up as soon as the San Francisco 49ers release him.

What we have to remember about Daniels, though, is that he's not just a passer. He's very comfortable running with the ball, so if McLaurin is covered, Chig Okonkwo can't get away, and the running backs can't get open, that probably means he's got room to run. David Blough will want Daniels to stay under center and avoid taking unnecessary hits, but Daniels' primary goal is to move the ball down the field, so he will do what is necessary. That's what makes him an elite quarterback.
