CARROLL, I.A. (KELO) — The West Lyon Wildcats baseball team saw its season come to an end in the 2A Iowa High School State Baseball Tournament quarterfinals.
The Wildcats had arguably their worst game of the season in the biggest game as Unity Christian jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the second inning before the Wildcats, like they always do, made things interesting with eight unanswered runs to bring it to 9-8.
The effort and energy this eight-run burst took though proved to be the final gasp for the team from Larchwood as they surrendered another six runs in the game while only mustering one more as they took a 15-9 loss.
West Lyon finishes the season with a 23-2 record.
