The Philadelphia Eagles apparently wanted to trade for Myles Garrett.
They didn't get him, though. The Cleveland Browns instead traded their record-setting pass rusher to the Los Angeles Rams, which isn't an ideal NFC outcome for Philly.
The Rams gave up Jared Verse and three draft picks, and the Eagles must not have been able to match that price.
Mainly, it seems, it's because the Eagles refused to trade one player.

Who wouldn't the Eagles trade for Myles Garrett?
A report indicates that Jalen Carter wasn't going anywhere.
NBC Sports Philadelphia's Ryan Fowler posted this on X to explain what happened:
The Eagles’ interest in Myles Garrett was more than exploratory, per source.
Ultimately, seems like Jared Verse/‘27 1st >>> some combination of Nolan Smith or Jalyx Hunt/combo of picks forced a clear tipping point in talks.
Jalen Carter was a name that arose in talks, I’m…

A lot of Eagles fans in the replies to Fowler's post seem to be OK with this, agreeing that Carter should be untouchable.
He is certainly a younger star on the interior of the defensive line.
Garrett did just set the NFL's single-season sacks record, so he wouldn't have been a bad guy to have in an Eagles uniform, either.
But in the end, Philly stood firm on its valuation, and that's in part why Garrett is going to the Rams instead.
