Jeremy Doku broke the deadlock on the hour mark with a stunning strike, before Haaland latched onto a loose ball inside the six-yard box to double our lead with a clever flick.

In an interview after the game, Haaland reiterated that the players are not looking too far ahead and are only fully focused on the next opponent, with Crystal Palace the next visitors to the Etihad on Wednesday evening.

“I haven’t thought of any other game. Just tired playing this game. How we approach the next game is to not think of any other games for two days and then try to win the next game. Recover. Then next game and then same again.

“If you play for Manchester City, you think of titles every single day.”

Haaland’s 26th Premier League goal of the season saw him extend his lead in the race for the Golden Boot.

The striker revealed he’s just continuing to do exactly what is expected of him at City.

“It’s alright. It’s been an up and down season,” he said when quizzed about his goal tally.

“I am trying to do my job and 26 goals is more than last year. So it’s OK.”
