It's been almost 25 years since Randy Johnson decimated a bird with a pitch in a spring training game and it's amazing how often that incident still comes up among sports fans.
On Thursday, during the first round of the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches, something happened that conjured up the Big Unit bird chatter all over again.
On the seventh hole at PGA National, Ryan Gerard hit his tee shot on the par-3 hole and his ball wasn't in the air for long when it clipped a passing bird.
Feathers can be seen flying, and while it appears to be unclear what exactly happened to the bird, Gerard's ball ended up on the green. He would two-putt from 32 feet for par.
Gerard took his shoes and socks off to hit a shot on another hole, but he wasn't the only one having an adventurous day at the Cognizant Classic.
