Watch rookie Cooper Ingle throw ball into stands, cost Guardians a run

Cleveland Guardians left fielder Cooper Ingle made the type of gaffe any rookie fears making in a game.

Less than a week since his call-up to the Guardians, Ingle forgot how many outs there were and it cost his team a run against the Texas Rangers, Tuesday, June 30.

Ingle caught a Rangers fly out to left by Alejandro Osuna for the second out in the top of the seventh inning of a tie game with a runner on second. Ingle, though, thought it was the third out and the inning was over. He then flipped the ball into the stands and began to jog off the field when he immediately realized his mistake.

Since Ingle had flipped the ball into the stands, Ezequiel Duran, the runner on second, was awarded home and scored to put Texas ahead 3-2..
