Spring practice has arrived, which means the Tennessee 2026 quarterback battle is officially underway. George MacIntyre begins spring ball with the lead in the battle, entering his second season in the program. True freshman Faizon Brandon has now officially entered the picture now as well, throwing his hat into the ring after Joey Aguilar was denied another season of eligibility.

On Monday, Brandon took the field in front of media for the first time as the Volunteers opened the spring period. By all accounts, the day was light as the team shook off some rust and got back into the swing of a practice routine.

But still, it was a first look at the five-star freshman, who was wearing at No. 11 red jersey while going through a few drills.

Brandon was the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2026, committing to Tennessee way back in August of 2024. He struggled through an injury for much of his senior season, but returned to help lead his team to a North Carolina state title in December. Brandon officially signed and joined the Tennessee program shortly after.

Now things get real. Brandon has a real shot in this battle, despite starting a year behind MacIntyre in the offense. How quickly he gets up to speed over these next four weeks will go a long way in determining if he can make a push for the job during fall camp.
