The Golden State Warriors didn't need a victory Wednesday night at Chase Center to clinch a berth in the play-in tournament.

They got one regardless.

The Warriors overcame 26 turnovers in a 109-106 win over the (tanking) Brooklyn Nets, to whom they trailed at a point by 13 in their 600th consecutive announced sellout. The Memphis Grizzlies lost to the San Antonio Spurs, clinching a play-in berth for the Warriors (35-38) as they remain in 10th in the Western Conference.

Gui Santos scored a career-high 31 points (on 11-for-16 shooting) and Brandin Podziemski added 22 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Warriors, who committed 20-plus turnovers for the fourth consecutive game.

De'Anthony Melton (14 points) broke a 106-106 tie with a free throw in the final minute.

Golden State struggled to a 58-50 disadvantage at halftime in part because of 15 turnovers, its most in a first half this season. Careless passes and errant execution halted the offensive rhythm for the Warriors, who shot 4-for-16 from 3-point range and struggled as well defensively.

Brooklyn's ballhandlers used their dribble to penetrate the paint, open kickouts and keep Golden State in defensive rotation. The Nets shot 52.6% and 46.7% from 3-point range, mitigating a stagnant start in which they scored eight points in the first 6:50.

A 15-point third quarter from Santos kept the Warriors in striking distance despite nine third-quarter turnovers en route to an 86-77 deficit. Santos, Podziemski and Gary Payton II sparked a 16-4 run with which they opened the fourth quarter, breaking a tie with a 3-pointer from Will Richard.

But the lead wouldn't last as Brooklyn (17-56) answered with five straight points to retake the lead with 5:57 to play, igniting a back-and-forth finish that included a game-tying 3-pointer from Draymond Green.

Melton's free throw followed a game-tying dunk by Ben Saraf.
